Sociology
As one of the social sciences, sociology is that branch of
human endeavor that inquires into the formation and
dynamics of society.
Since society and its processes are primarily the result of
human interactions, both past and present, sociology may be
seen as the study of the social nature of humankind.
Sociology, then, is a scientific inquiry into the human
condition, insofar as the human condition is manifested in, or
results from, the interactions of people in groups. Virtually
anything that human beings do or experience in groups of
one kind or another can therefore be treated as a legitimate
sub-field of the discipline of sociology.
For instance, sociology of education, sociology of sports,
sociology of religion, and sociology of crimes (criminology)
are all established areas of research and inquiry.
